Valley of Fire

After leaving the Las Vegas area we traveled east towards Utah. Since we had some extra time we stopped at a campground in Overton, Nevada, on the northern tip of Lake Mead. The other day we drove over to the Valley of Fire State Park, about 8 miles west of town. After stopping at the Visitors Center we headed out into the park, stopping along the way to stare at the beautiful scenery. Pretty awesome, huh? Thousands of years ago these rock formations were under water. As the water receded, some of the rock eroded away, leaving the present formations.

Now we know why it is called the Valley of Fire. The colors bouncing off the unusual rock formations are a rainbow of orange, red, purple, yellow and brown, changing with the direction of the sunlight and shadows.

I love Valley of Fire. Did an article on it for RV Life a year or so ago. meant going back and renewing my acquaintance with a great spot.

I thought I already had you on my list of blogs I follow, but realized I didn't. In attempting to sign on, I managed to sign myself on as a follower of my own blog. But this time I think I did it right.

I too have a photo of a tv with our new president being sworn in....taken in a backpacker hostel in Madrid. We had an international audience and they were almost as excited as I was.

Do you ever get reports that photos overlap, or text ends up on top of photos on your blog.

Your pictures look like they could have been taken in the badlands.
We will leave here on the 26th and go through Texas to visit friends and then head North to SD.
Looks like you two are living "the life" and enjoying your selves.

Well, it's a little late in the year, but, when we finally leave Vegas, we'll be taking the drive through the Valley of Fire, too, on our way to Utah. Your pictures are great! Did Bruce & Kathy tell you we would be stopping by for a visit?
